Motorhome and campervan shipping requires careful measurement and preparation because vehicle height, length, weight and fitted equipment can affect the available route. A suitable vehicle may travel by RoRo, while some smaller campervans can be considered for container shipping.
Rapid Logistics can request current options after reviewing the vehicle details. Schedules, prices and acceptance vary by carrier and destination, so every quotation is tailored and remains subject to confirmation.
Vehicle information to provide
Send the make, model, registration, chassis number, year, value and ownership evidence. Measure the full shipping length, width and height, including mirrors, roof racks, air-conditioning units, satellite dishes, spare wheels and rear carriers. State the gross vehicle weight and whether it starts, steers and brakes correctly.
Photographs should show all sides, the roofline, interior and any existing damage. Notify us of modifications, gas systems, leisure batteries, solar installations, generators or accessibility equipment before booking.
RoRo or container shipping
RoRo can suit a roadworthy motorhome that meets the carrier's operating and clearance rules. The vehicle is driven into the vessel's enclosed cargo area and secured for the voyage. The carrier decides whether the vehicle is acceptable and what items may remain inside.
A standard container has strict door and internal dimensions, so only some campervans fit. Larger vehicles may need alternative equipment or a different service. Check our container dimensions guide, but use measured vehicle dimensions for any decision.
Personal belongings inside the vehicle
Some routes do not permit personal effects inside a RoRo vehicle, while others impose limited conditions. Never assume that household goods, tools or camping equipment can remain onboard. Ask for the carrier's current written rules before packing.
Where goods are accepted, prepare a detailed inventory and secure every item. Remove food, alcohol, aerosols, fuels and prohibited goods. Customs may treat the vehicle and personal effects as separate imports even when they travel together.
Gas, fuel and electrical systems
LPG cylinders and other pressurised containers are commonly restricted. Fixed gas systems may need to be emptied, isolated or certified according to carrier instructions. Fuel should be reduced to the permitted level, alarms and loose electrical devices switched off, and batteries prepared as directed.
Leaks, unsafe wiring or undeclared dangerous goods can cause a vehicle to be rejected. Provide full details of fitted systems at the quotation stage.
Collection and port delivery
You may deliver the vehicle to the nominated port or request UK collection. Access, vehicle size and running condition determine the collection equipment required. Port receiving dates and documents are provided after the booking is confirmed.
At destination, the consignee must complete customs formalities and collect promptly. Port storage, inspections, duties, taxes, registration and local compliance are not included unless listed in the written quotation.
Request a motorhome shipping quote
Complete the quotation form with exact dimensions, weight and photographs. Tell us the collection postcode and destination. We will review RoRo, container or other available methods and explain the current carrier terms before you commit.
