Plant and agricultural machinery shipping covers tractors, excavators, loaders, harvesters, telehandlers, rollers and related equipment exported from the UK. Depending on dimensions, weight, operating condition and destination, machinery may travel by RoRo, container, flat rack or breakbulk service.

Rapid Logistics can review the equipment specification and seek current carrier options. Every machine is different, and ports apply their own handling rules. Freight, collection, lifting and destination costs are therefore quote-only and no sailing is confirmed until the carrier accepts the cargo.

Details needed for assessment

Provide the manufacturer, model, serial number, year, value and ownership documents. Record the exact transport dimensions with booms, buckets, cabins or attachments positioned for shipment. State the gross weight and whether the machine starts, steers and brakes reliably.

Send clear photographs from all sides, including tyres or tracks, cabin, engine area and identification plate. Identify loose attachments and explain how they will be packed. Incorrect dimensions can lead to revised charges, refused loading or unsafe transport.

RoRo, container and breakbulk options

Operational self-propelled machinery may be considered for a suitable RoRo service, subject to the line's acceptance and safe ground clearance. Smaller machines or dismantled equipment may fit a standard or high-cube container if loading and securing can be completed safely.

Out-of-gauge or very heavy units may need flat-rack or breakbulk shipping. The best method depends on the route and terminal facilities, not only the machine size. We can compare current options once all specifications are available.

Cleaning and biosecurity

Many countries inspect used agricultural and construction machinery for soil, seeds, plant material and organic contamination. Thorough cleaning is often essential, including undercarriage, tracks, wheels, guards, engine compartments and difficult recesses.

A destination may require treatment, inspection or a cleanliness certificate. These rules must be confirmed before collection. Machinery that fails inspection can face cleaning charges, delay, re-export or refusal by the destination authority.

Fluids, batteries and dangerous goods

Fuel levels, hydraulic systems, oils and batteries must follow carrier instructions. Leaks should be repaired and loose battery terminals protected. Gas bottles, spare fuel and undeclared hazardous materials should not remain with the machine.

Some equipment contains refrigerants or other controlled substances. Provide technical details early so the carrier and customs representatives can assess the shipment correctly.

UK collection and loading

Collection may require a low-loader, ramps, winch, crane or escort arrangements. Tell us about access restrictions and whether loading equipment is available. Non-running machines need a clear recovery and handling plan agreed before transport arrives.

Attachments should be secured separately and labelled to match the packing list. For container or flat-rack loading, suitable blocking, bracing and lashing must be used by competent operators.

Documents and destination requirements

Prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, proof of ownership and any export or import permits. The destination may restrict machinery by age, emissions, condition or intended use. Duties, taxes and local registration are separate from the freight unless explicitly included.

Request a machinery shipping quote

Use the quotation form with exact specifications and photographs. State whether the machine runs and which attachments are included. Rapid Logistics will review suitable RoRo, container and breakbulk arrangements and confirm available services only after the relevant carrier checks.
