Trailer shipping from the UK can cover box trailers, flatbeds, skeletal trailers, low-loaders, horse trailers and specialist commercial units. Depending on size, condition and destination, a trailer may travel by RoRo, inside a container, on flat-rack equipment or as breakbulk cargo.
Rapid Logistics can review the specifications and request current carrier options. Prices depend on dimensions, weight, route, port handling and whether a tractor unit is required for movement. All rates and sailings are subject to a current quotation and carrier acceptance.
Trailer details required
Provide the manufacturer, model, registration or identification number, year, value and proof of ownership. Measure the full length, width and height, including drawbar, ramps, landing legs, roof equipment and any projection. State the tare and gross weight.
Explain whether the trailer is roadworthy, loaded or empty, and whether its brakes, tyres, lights and coupling operate correctly. Send photographs from every side and highlight damage or unusual features.
RoRo shipping
An unaccompanied trailer may be accepted on a suitable RoRo freight route. The port or carrier may require a compatible tractor unit to deliver and collect it, and the trailer must meet operational and safety rules. Passenger vehicle services do not necessarily accept commercial trailers.
Route availability, cut-off times and securing requirements are confirmed for each booking. A non-running or damaged trailer may need specialist handling and prior approval.
Container and specialist options
Small trailers may fit inside a standard or high-cube container if dimensions and loading access permit. Wheels, drawbars or other parts should not be removed without an agreed engineering and packing plan. The complete load must remain within container payload and road limits.
Oversized units may require flat rack or breakbulk shipping. The carrier will assess lifting points, weight distribution and lashing arrangements. Current terminal capabilities are part of that review.
Loaded trailers
If the trailer contains cargo, provide a full commercial invoice and packing list as well as the trailer documents. The contents must be packed, declared and secured independently. Gross weight and axle loads must remain legal for UK collection and port movement.
Dangerous goods, batteries, machinery fluids and restricted cargo must be declared. The carrier can reject a loaded trailer if the contents are unsuitable, incompatible with the service or documented incorrectly.
UK collection and preparation
Tell us whether a tractor unit is available and describe site access. Collection can require a haulage operator with the correct coupling, number plate and equipment. Tyres should be inflated, brakes released as instructed and loose ramps or accessories secured.
Remove personal property that the carrier has not accepted. Record the trailer's condition with dated photographs and keep keys or locking devices available as requested.
Customs and arrival
The destination authority may require import approval, roadworthiness checks, duties, taxes or local registration. The consignee should verify these rules before shipping. Port handling, customs clearance, storage and onward haulage should be listed in the quotation if required.

Use the form with exact specifications, photographs and cargo details. We can compare RoRo, container and specialist cargo options and coordinate related truck shipping where required. No booking is final until the selected carrier confirms acceptance.
